Overview

Hybrid cloud bursting is a concept that involves merging the resources of a private cloud with those from external cloud providers, such as AWS EC2, Microsoft Azure, or HyperCloud-based clouds. This arrangement facilitates the creation of highly scalable hosting environments.

In the context of cloud bursting, HyperCloud adopts an approach that emphasizes transparency for both end users and cloud administrators. This transparency is achieved by allowing these individuals to seamlessly use and manage the cloud bursting functionality.

For cloud administrators, the transparency is realized by treating an AWS EC2 region, or an Azure location, as equivalent to any other host within the system; albeit, with potentially greater capacity. This allows the scheduler to distribute virtual machines (VMs) in the external cloud as it would with local hosts.

On the user end, transparency is facilitated through the utilization of hybrid templates. These templates in HyperCloud can describe a VM's configuration, whether it's deployed locally, or in external environments; such as, EC2 or Azure. As a result, users only need to instantiate the template, and HyperCloud will autonomously determine whether to execute it locally or in a remote location.
