Accessing Marketplace Images Offline
If the HyperCloud Dashboard, for whatever reason, is unable to reach the HyperCloud Marketplace endpoints directly, the Images can be downloaded by another machine via the HyperCloud Marketplace WebGUI and uploaded to the Dashboard locally; however, if the dashboard can access the HyperCloud Marketplaces, please refer to Accessing SoftIron Marketplaces.
As seen in the Accessing SoftIron Marketplaces page, there are several marketplaces supported by SoftIron, which contain various Appliances and Images to be used within HyperCloud to create Templates and devices to use within the cloud infrastructure. Access to these marketplaces requires authorization and can be granted via an e-mail to support@softiron.com.
Once access is secured and you've logged into the desired HyperCloud Marketplace WebGUI (SoftIron Official, Community, Partner, etc.), simply click on the item you wish to download and its page will open up with a short description and Template configurations.
To download the file that will be uploaded to the HyperCloud Dashboard, scroll down to the bottom of this window and click the DOWNLOAD IMAGE button to download to local machine.
Create Image
Now that the image has been downloaded, the file can be verified with the checksum listed above the download button; and, once verified, it can be brought via sneakernet to the device that is able to upload files to the HyperCloud Dashboard.
From the dashboard, navigate the GUI to create an image, and enter the necessary information to upload the image to the desired datastore.
The Advanced Options' inputs are on the Marketplace WebGUI page labeled Image Template where the DEV_PREFIX
refers to the BUS or the device being emulated and the DRIVER
refers to the image data type.
The Image creation will take a few moments to upload to the Datastore and be registered in the system. The Appliance Template can be created in the meantime.
Create Template
To easily setup the Template, the template configuration will also be copied from the WebGUI to be pasted in the Dashboard's GUI. Since the Gateway Appliance is classified as a Virtual Router, navigate through the dashboard to create a virtual router template. From here, enter the Advanced setup and paste the configuration into the
Note
The NAME input is not presented on the WebGUI; however, there are two options to name the Template:
- As seen below, with the NAME definition in the configuration (parentheses are required if there is a space in the given name), or
- Via the Dashboard GUI Wizard, with the Name field.
The green Create button can be clicked and the Virtual Router Template list will be visible. Now the Image, which should have been uploaded and changed to the READY
state, can be attached to the Template to be used when the device is instantiated.
Attach Image
In the Virtual Router Template list, select the newly created Gateway Appliance, switch back to the Wizard, and enter the Storage section on the ribbon. Here, the Gateway Appliance Image can be selected to load as a Disk on the Template.
The Gateway Appliance has now been successfully downloaded from the HyperCloud Marketplace WebGUI and a Template has been created to use on the HyperCloud infrastructure. For details on the device, refer to Gateway Appliance
